What We Really Wish Dog Parents Knew (with Love!)
As your go-to groomer for anxious pups, big dogs, and nervous nellies, I’ve got a few behind-the-scenes wishes I carry in my heart—and it’s time to share them! If I could wave a magic wand and sprinkle a little grooming fairy dust, here’s what I’d wish for…
🚿 1. Brushing Between Grooms
Please, please, please brush your dog at home—especially if they’ve got a long, curly, or double coat! Brushing:
Prevents matting
Helps us get through the groom faster (which means less stress on your pup)
Keeps their skin healthy and circulation flowing
Even just 5 minutes a few times a week makes a HUGE difference. Mats hurt. They pull on the skin, trap bacteria, and create stress—especially for sensitive or anxious dogs. If brushing takes over 30 minutes at your appointment, we do charge $30 for the first 30 minutes, and $1 for each extra minute. Not because we’re mean—but because it takes time and care to be gentle.
🐶 2. Be Honest About Your Dog’s Behavior
We don’t judge! We’ve seen it all—biters, wigglers, barkers, and dogs who think the blow dryer is evil. The more we know, the better we can support your pup with patience, slow introductions, and a plan that keeps everyone safe and calm.
📅 3. Regular Grooming Is Easier on Dogs
Going too long between grooms = more tangles, more stress, and often, more cost. Consistent appointments (every 4–8 weeks depending on breed) help your dog:
Get used to the process
Feel more secure with us
Avoid painful mats and overgrown nails
We also have a long coat policy: Anything over ½ inch of extra growth means more time = a small extra fee.
🧙♀️ 4. We’re Not Magicians (But We Try!)
We love a glow-up as much as anyone, but if your pup comes in matted or hasn’t been groomed in months, there are limits to what we can safely and kindly do in one session. Our goal? A stress-free, gentle, realistic result that puts your dog’s comfort first.
❤️ 5. We Really Love Your Dogs
Like… really. Your dogs aren’t “just another appointment.” We remember their favorite treats, their quirks, and that they hate when you leave the room but love peanut butter. We cheer when they improve. We cry when they cross the rainbow bridge. You’re our pack.
